Here are some trivia regarding the 2022 Winter Olympic.
1. The southern hemisphere never hosted the Winter Olympics.
2. The 2022 Winter Games used the same venue as the 2008 Summer Games.
Beijing only built only a new structure for the skating events.
The National Aquatic center called “Water Cube” for the summer games was converted into the venue for curling named as “Ice Cube.”
3. “Ski” came from an old Norwaign word, “skid”, meaning “a split length of wood”.
“ Hockey” comes from the old French word, “hocquet”, which means “stick.”
4. Japan participated in the Winter Olympics for the first time at the 1928 St. Moritz Games in Switzerland.
The Winter Olympics were held twice in Japan.
One was in Sapporo in 1972, and the other was in Nagano in 1998.
5. Yuzuru Hanyu challenged the quad accelerator.
There are six types of figure skating jumps: axel, lutz, flip, loop, salkou, toe loop.
Among them, the accelerator is the most difficult jump.
The Beijing Winter Paralympics will be held from March 4th.
