I like winter, especially celebrating winter festivals, such as Christmas.

Japanese people like it so much, although we are Buddhists.

Christmas has become popular as for a commercial opportunity rather than just a religious matter.

Illuminations and cold temperatures give additional romantic and fantasy feelings for Christmas season.

 

We don’t have a massive Christmas market like Dusseldorf in Germany, but some are in Tokyo.

Those markets get people into the Christmas spirit with lots of joy.

 

After Christmas, are there any famous events?

In South Korea, the Hwacheon Ice Fishing Festival will be held in January.

The icy area has over 1,000 holes to catch the local mountain trout.

After fishing, you can eat a single grilled fish from your catch.

Fishing equipment is free of charge.

 

In Japan, the Sapporo Snow Festival held in Hokkaido is a must-see.

The most popular winter event with snow sculpture and carnivals started in the 1950s and has drawn many visitors from all over the world.

Gigantic, beautiful ice sculptures impress many people every year.

The 72nd Sapporo Snow Festivals in this season will be held next February as a hybrid event both locally and online．
